Compare "The Nose" to "The Metamorphosis":
"The Nose" and "The Metamorphosis" are both examples of early magical realism. The first
similarity between them is that they both start off with a magical event that the story revolves around. In "The Nose", this event is a nose suddenly disapearing from someone's face. In "The Metamorphosis", this event is a person suddenly turning into a human-sized beetle.
A contrast between them is what this event represents. In "The Nose", the loss of the nose represents a loss of power. In "The Metamorphosis", the main character's alienation from his family because of the transformation represents his alienation from society because of his job as a travelling salesman.
